March Double Header

February 14, 2024 – I have a double header on Thursday, March 14th at PAMA (Peel Art Gallery, Museum and Archives, 9 Wellington St. East, Brampton), as they feature a special Space exhibition during March Break.

At 1:00 p.m. I’ll be doing my (mainly) non-musical speaking engagement “Lending a (Canad)arm to Space” where I talk about my 35-year career working on the Canadarm and the Canadian Contribution to the International Space Station (Canadarm 2).

In the evening, the Brampton Folk Club will be presenting a concert in the courtroom entitled “Between the Clouds and the Stars” from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Keith, David and I will do a half hour set at 8 p.m. to finish off the evening, preceded by Paul and Judy Caulfield and Carlos Medina.

Keeping Good Company in Upcoming Shows

September 27th, 2023 – We’ve got some exciting shows coming up! On October 27th we’ll be participating in a special tribute to Gordon Lightfoot, then on January 26th my trio will be opening for Blues legend Rick Fines and his trio! New CD, CD Release Concerts, Video

April 24th, 2023 – Good news! My new CD “Just the Blues” is now available. My first blues CD, it also contains elements of swing, rockabilly, Cajun/Zydeco, rap, bluegrass, Celtic-Rock, Classic-Rock and even Bossa Nova. I'll be officially releasing it on Friday, May 5th, with a Special CD Release Concert to raise funds to repair the pipe organ at St. Paul’s United Church, Brampton. I’ll also do a free online concert on May 12th over Zoom.

So far I’ve released one video from the album, “Talk to the Duck”. Check it out, along with all my other videos on the Videos page!

April 24th, 2021 – Good news! My new CD “Happy at Home” is now available. I'll be officially releasing it on Friday, May 14th, with a FREE Online CD Release Concert via Zoom.

Tour of New Brunswick this Summer!

June 02, 2019 – Keith and I are excited to return to New Brunswick this summer, to visit our family and play a few shows. We’ll be promoting our new CD “Bayside” as well as playing plenty of songs about our native province. We’ve got a stellar line-up of folk festivals this year, including Campobello Fogfest on Campobello Island, the Area 506 Festival in Saint John, and the prestigious Miramichi Folksong Festival. Big News – New CD All about our Family History in New Brunswick!

February 10th, 2019 – According to some sources, this year marks the 200th anniversary of my lineage arriving in Bayside, New Brunswick. This inspired me to write and record a whole CD of songs about my family’s history in Bayside.

The CD will officially be released on March 14th at my concert at PAMA, but I will also have copies available at Winterfolk on February 24th. Please check out my Shows for more details on these two events. Also, I will also be touring New Brunswick this summer and playing more shows in southern Ontario – stay tuned for details!

New Live Video!

August 26th, 2017 – Here’s a live performance of my song “Newfoundland 9-1-1”, which chronicles how the town of Gander, Newfoundland took in 6,500 stranded plane passengers for several days during the events of September 11th. It was recorded last month at the Canterbury Folk Festival, where we were honoured to be joined by RPR (Steve Richie, Al Parrish and Rob Ritchie) singing harmony. The song is off my new CD “Time to Kill”.

We’ve also updated our Shows page to include some exciting concerts coming up next month, including a fall fair, opening for Mike Ford, a great double bill, and a special performance of “Newfoundland 9-1-1”. All the details can be found here.

New CD “Time to Kill”, Sesquicentennial Video, Lots of Tour Dates!

June 5th, 2017 – Big news - our new CD is ready! Named after the song by The Band, “Time to Kill” is a wonderful blend of many musical styles, including East Coast, folk, rock, country, blues, classical, world music, and even some beatnik style jazz/blues. This diverse CD was primarily recorded by my Celteclectic bandmate Jon Grant, with additional recording by Tom Leighton, Wendell Ferguson, and James Gordon. As per tradition, it features plenty of guest musicians to help make this my best offering yet.

We’ve recorded a fun video for my Sesquicentennial sing-a-long ditty “Hey Canada!” – check it out here… We’ve also got lots of tour dates to support the new CD, including a very special CD Release Concert, a radio interview, Canada Day (twice!!!) and representing New Brunswick at the Canterbury Folk Festival in Ingersoll. It’s going to be a fun summer!

“Music and Friends Tour” Hits New Brunswick this Summer!

June 14, 2016 – Big news! Keith and I are returning to New Brunswick this summer, to visit the family and play a few shows. We’ll be promoting our new CD “Music and Friends” as well as playing plenty of songs about our native province. We’ll be playing the Dooryard Arts Festival in Woodstock, the Tay Creek Folk Festival near Fredericton, as well as performing concerts in Hampton and Saint John, before finishing up on New Brunswick Day in Moncton to help celebrate their 250 Anniversary. Huggers Unite!

June 20, 2012 – On June 20th, I joined in a “Hug-In” at Earnscliffe Senior Public School in Brampton, where a group of students were protesting the school's “No Touching” rule that even extended to hugs. The event caught a lot of media attention, including CBC Newsworld, City TV, The Toronto Star and the Brampton Guardian. The Star posted a video link of me playing “I Want A Hug” during the protest. First Solo CD “Food for Thought” Now Available

Glenn McFarlane, of the Celtic and East Coast duo Brown Ale, has released his first solo CD, “Food for Thought”. Co-produced by Wendell Ferguson, James Gordon and Jon Grant, this album of all original material is his most eclectic offering to date. It often stretches well beyond his normal Celtic/East Coast style, to include such diverse influences as country, folk/rock and world music. The album comes hot off his winning an Ontario Council of Folk Festivals “Songs from the Heart” songwriting award, in the humour category. Glenn is celebrating his CD release with a series of concerts in Southern Ontario and by launching this great new website!
